So, a while ago Reflx Labs released a re-roll of Fujifilm F-64D in a STUNNING package:
This will be my first ECN-2 film, and… if it’s worth it, I have 7 more rolls to shoot. Otherwise, I might have some film to trade/give away/sell. 😅 Honestly, all their packaging is amazing, and the fact that it is a Fuji Cinema film will be… interesting. Especially given that MOST other film these days is from Kodak, one way or another.
Aside from some NOTABLE EXCEPTIONS, like the next film that I’ll be getting a roll developed of, Harman Phoenix II. If you’re into the film photography world, and you’re terminally online like me, then you would have to be living under a rather large and impermeable rock to not know about Phoenix II.
Phoenix II is supposed to fix the most severe problems of the original Phoenix, which I think I still have some rolls of. It was an excellent first effort at color film, but… it took precise exposures, and did NOT forgive much. The colors were also something of an acquired taste. I found it to be interesting, but… not thrilling, overall.
Fast forward about 18 months, and here we are with Phoenix II. It’s supposed to have more exposure latitude, better colors (truer to life, if still a bit stylized), but still retains the original charm/halation. Honestly, the halation is one of my favorite features of Phoenix, and I enjoyed Kentmere 200 because it also allows some halation, so… I’m clearly in their target demographic.
So, stay tuned for some late, if new to me film explorations! Aside from the ECN-2 films, all my film goes to McGreevy ProLab. Mostly because they are reasonably priced, and I trust them, AND I have not enough free time. It’s a great Venn diagram. 😸
Curious what other oddities are in my film fridge? Got any requests? Let me know in the comments! Also, for just $5 a month, you too can feed into my need to wander around with cameras! 😹
